One of the main purpose of RVCare Log Book is to record service to the rv. So I would say having to have a windshield replace qualify.
To enter this service in the RVCLB database I need to create a Service Record for the work to replace the windshield.
The Service Record required that I have a record for:
- Component Record for the “Windshield, curb side”
- Vendor Record for “Duncan Systems Inc” who did the work.
The Component Record requires that I have a record for:
- Vehicle Record for RV (03MADP)
- Optional – Vendor record for component maker
The Vehicle Record requires that I have a record for:
- Vendor Record for the make
- Optional Vendor Record for the chassis maker
To summarize I needed the following records:
- Vendor records for coach maker: Newmar
- Vendor record for chassis maker: Freightliner
- Vendor record for service facility: Duncan
- Vehicle record for my RV: 03MADP
- Component record for: Windshield
- Service record for: Windshield
NOTE: In most cases you would already have the Vehicle and Vendor records for the first two.
Below are screen shots of these records ( top – List part of window is not shown )
After I have enter the above, I then scan the documentation and file it, The scan file name is shown above as “SO-2006-11-06.pdf” where SO = Service Order, 2006-11-06 = date. The pdf is shown below.
All of this may be over-kill but that the way I do it. When ever I have service I normally only have to make one record, the Service record. Most of the time I already have the other records. For example just after we had the above half of the windshield installed we left Lakeland, Florida, as we were going thru Orlando the other side cracked. For this I only had to make the Service and Component records for “Windshield, Street Side”.
*NOTE: Window for some of the screen shots may different from the current version, however the principle will be the same.
